SpeedBox 3.0 B.Tuning for Bafang (3 pin connector)

Basic tuning kit for e-bikes with Bafang motors.

Not compatible with: Bafang Max Drive M500

SpeedBox 3.0 enables you to double the speed limit of an e-bike from the original 16 mph (25 km/h) to 31 mph (50 km/h). When in use, the actual speed will appear on your display up to 14mph (23 km/h). The display also shows your trip and other aspects of your ride.

The tuning kit manipulates the speed signal without altering the motor's power relative to pedaling speed. This guarantees a smooth motor control without speed limit interruptions. Depending on a tuning kit, some determine when assistance stops, while others remove the restriction entirely for continuous support. However, the achievable speed mostly depends on the eBike model. Achievable speed can be calculated using a simple formula:

Speed = Cadence [rpm] * Wheel circumference [mm] * Front Chainring Teeth / Rear Chainring Teeth * 60 [min/h] / 1.000.000 [mm/km]

SpeedBox 3.0 tuning kit can be activated on the e-bike’s control unit. After pressing the LIGHT button , the active lights icon will be displayed shortly after which you will be able to ride at a speed of 31mph (50 km/h). The chip is deactivated by pressing the LIGHT button again.

By attaching the Light cable for Bafang, you can use the SpeedBox and your lights at the same time.

This tuning kit is compatible with motors:
- Bafang Max Drive M300
- Bafang Max Drive M400

Compatible with motors with CAN protocol and not compatible with motors with UART protocol. The CAN or UART protocols can be recognized by the shape of the connectors, please see the picture below.



In case of updating the software of your e-bike, uninstall SpeedBox from the e-bike first, update the software and reinstall SpeedBox.

If your ebike is with 4 Pin connector, you would need Speedbox 1.3 Bafang (4 pin connector) or SpeedBox 1.3 B.Tuning for Bafang

We use original connectors for the production of SpeedBox chips ensuring that the installation process is very simple and the chip is connected properly. We have also prepared detailed instructions and videos to make installation easy for you. Disassembly of the tuning chip is just as easy. If you have any troubles with installation or disassembly, do not hesitate to contact us.

If you are planning to install SpeedBox on a brand-new bike, make sure you ride it for at least 0.6 miles (1 km) before the chip is activated.
